PUmpkin DAY

"Pumpkin Day was a huge success for Hughson FFA and Hughson Elementary School. We hosted this event in October, which consisted of elementary students coming to our Garden area at the high school and learning about the process of growing a pumpkin. After coloring, cutting, and making a informational headband, they were able to plant a pumpkin seed in a plastic baggy, and then take it home to fully plant. After that, they were given a mini tour around the garden by one of our volunteer students. Following that, they had story time with kathryn davis, a retired librarian and professional storyteller. Finally, the students picked their own pumpkin (provided by resendiz farms) to take home to carve or paint.

Everyone enjoyed this event, and I loved seeing the smiles on the kids' faces. Teaching them and seeing their little brains work as they learned and showed their true selves is part of what this event is all about! Pumpkin Day is informational, fun, involving, and all around a great way to keep Ag alive in the community!"
